Our Activities

ABAC has consistently and regularly produced superior quality performances in music, theater, dance, and concerts.

Since its inception in 1988, ABAC has presented lively and colorful stage shows, in which local Bengali performers and invited artistes from all over the US, Bangladesh and India have performed. Such performances include dances, music concerts, choreographed musicals, and musical soirees. Bands and troupes of Bengali musicians have also performed in programs hosted and produced by ABAC.

ABAC will continue to bring many high quality shows for the residents of Irving and the Dallas Fort-Worth metroplex in the near and distant future.

The ABAC Theater Group is a vibrant and energetic component of the Academy.

Formed in 1998 as a branch of the Academy, the predominant goal of ABAC Theater is to regularly bring theatrical productions in the Bengali language, primarily produced by ABAC members. Occasionally, invited shows are staged as well.

Particular emphasis is placed on the message of the plays as they pertain to the lives and cultures of Bangladesh, West Bengal, expatriate communities in the world, and their interactions with the world around them. To this end, original Bengali plays as well as well-adapted versions of international plays are to be brought to the community.

Since 2004, ABAC has hosted the CMF, which has now become one of the flagship events of the academy. This event brings together children and adults of various communities and celebrates the great traditions of music, dance and art of various cultures around the world. The event includes exhibitions and stage performances, primarily by children, and entirely for children. Over the last several years, teams representing countries from every continent have staged spectacularly colorful stage performances.
